blog, life stories, fandom, music appreciation.
This publication has been on an indefinite hiatus, but I wanted to share an ongoing creative project that’s been consuming much of my free time, a visual diary. Much like Bowie’s “cut up technique,” I’m hoping that the combination of visual and text cues it will inspire further art, from my growing repertoire of work.

I think it's safe to say, I WILL be participating in the festivities for Duran Duran Appreciation Day this year, as I do every year. I think it's also safe to say that for me, EVERY day is Duran Duran Appreciation Day. It is held every year on August 10th. Why? Because it was the day when Duran Duran's fearless leader, Simon Le Bon, nearly lost his life when his ship, 'The Drum,' capsized mid-sail during a competition. For someone who has adored Duran Duran her entire life, minus 8 years, things would have been very different had he not made it- frankly, the alternative doesn't bear thinking about (I often think of the movie 'Sliding Doors,' the causal chain of events in life, etc). Not only would my 'instant happy' be gone, but I wouldn't have met so many wonderful people, some of whom I'm extremely close to. Soul family, in fact. So therefore, August 10th is an even bigger reason to celebrate this band that I love so well.
Duran Duran have seen me through some very rough times, and have become a sort of 'framily' to me. Check out my feature story, for a more in-depth look at the positive effect Duran Duran have had on my life. I am grateful and honored to have you as an integral part of my life, Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes, Roger Taylor, John Taylor and Dom Brown! |
